A hand-moulded brick that reminds us of the setting sun
Trafalgar is a hand-moulded brick from the Passion range of Nelissen Brickworks. The surface of the brick is red. The colour shades vary from orange-red and bright red to purple. The nuances are obtained by mixing Löss clay with sawdust on one hand and red-brown, grainy moist sand on the other hand. This Trafalgar is made from Löss from Limburg, extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley and revalued with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel.
The facing brick (non-perforated) is sanded on five sides, and provided with an possible oblong sloping groove on one flat side. The structure is formed by a rough appearance with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under a slightly reducing atmosphere.
