A hand-moulded brick with an Italian touch
The Paladio is a hand-moulded brick from the Nuance range of Nelissen Brickworks. This brick is made from Löss from Limburg. The stone is extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley. Then it gets upgraded with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel. The non-perforated brick is covered with sand on five sides. On one flat side the Paladio is provided with a possible oblong sloping groove (frog, group 1).
The structure of the Paladio looks rugged with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under a slightly reducing atmosphere. The surface of the brick is pink. The colour shades in the brick show a pastel-coloured shade going from orange-red to purple-red, interspersed with yellow nuances in a certain proportion.
