The hand-moulded brick that ensures a good balance

The Lava is a hand-moulded facing brick of Nelissen Brickworks. By the homogeneous mixture of a precise proportion of manganese dioxide with loam, a light grey stone is obtained, the colours range from silver-grey, beige-grey to mouse grey. Lava is made from Löss from Limburg, extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley. The brick is revalued with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel.

The non-perforated brick from the Grigio range is covered with sand at five sides and provided with an oblong sloping groove on one flat side. The structure of Lava is formed by a rough appearance with fine irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The baking process is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under a slightly reducing atmosphere.
