The hand-moulded brick with the bronze touch
Siena is a hand-moulded brick with a yellowish surface.
The bronze effects of these hand-moulded stones are obtained by mixing yellow Löss with very fine silver paint and a purple-red, fine-grained sand type. The brick is made from Löss from Limburg, extracted from the plateau of Kesselt in the Meuse valley and revalued with raw materials from the Volcanic Eifel. The baking process of these facing bricks is done in a gas-fired tunnel kiln under a slightly reducing atmosphere.
The non-perforated brick is covered with sand at five sides and provided with a possible oblong sloping groove on one flat side (frog, group 1). The brick is characterized by a rough appearance with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface. The Siena is part of the Nuance range of Nelissen Brickworks.
